PS4 has a problem with DLC control. If they are removed after the update, try this solution.
You paid for the DLC, you should have access to it all the time you want. Unfortunately, it seems that some PS4 players are seeing their DLC removed for no apparent reason and there is no other solution than to simply reinstall everything. Before you go through with it and lose your saves, you should try this little trick, a much less drastic approach to the problem.
PS4 has a problem with managing DLC
With DLC on PS4, there are usually no problems, at least nothing comparable. This issue occurs with firmware update 10.00, which contains a number of new features. That being said, one of the unforeseen consequences has been the removal of DLC on some PS4s, mainly when PS4s use an external hard drive to store that DLC.
If they are removed after the update, try this solution.
Sony is no doubt working on a fix, but you might not have to wait. Reddit user SegaJAM shared a solution on r/PS4, a solution that, judging by the comments, has saved many. It’s simple, in four small steps, and allows you to restore DLC after a firmware update.
- Go to the PS4 control panel, hold the PS button on the controller.
- Go to “Sounds/Devices”, then select “Stop Using Extended Storage”. You will see a warning that you can disable the external hard drive, but this is not required.
- Press and hold the PS button, then choose Power > Restart PS4.
- Wait while the PS4 rescans the hard drive.
And everything is ready (usually). DLC for games should appear on your external hard drive. Some also suggest unplugging the external hard drive from the PS4 before installing future firmware updates. This may help to face the same problem in the future.
That being said, it is possible that the update in question will also affect DLC on the internal hard drive, as some have reported. It’s hard to think that this solution solves the problem in this case.
