POCO, the Chinese smartphone maker, plans to introduce a number of new smartphones this year. The company is reportedly preparing to upgrade its entire suite of phones to the fourth generation within the next four months.
The company also confirmed that there will be no new lineups, but instead the brand has focused on introducing new smartphones to its existing lineup of devices, including the Poco F, Poco X, Poco M, and Poco C series. Here’s everything we know so far.
New Poco F, Poco X, Poco M and Poco C Series smartphones arrive!
In an interview with Gadgets360, POCO India director Anuj Sharma revealed that the company intends to upgrade all of its phones to the fourth generation.
He also added that the brand is not going to introduce any additional complexity and the company will definitely have at least one new model in each of the series; implying that the new models will only be available in the Poco F, Poco X, Poco M, and Poco C series.
Sharma, on the other hand, stressed the difficulty of keeping prices low in today’s market. While Poco’s C-series portfolio is already in the affordable category, the CEO indicated that some of the company’s future models will cost around Rs. 30,000.
As the government confirmed 5G spectrum auction plans in its 2022 budget and demand for 5G is expected to rise, Anju told Gadgets 360 that the company plans to introduce more smartphones with 5G connectivity (the brand currently has POCO M3 Pro and POCO F3 GT in their 5G portfolio).
POCO may go beyond smartphone categories in 2022!
Previously, POCO was rumored to be working on its first TWS product, POCO Pop Buds, and Anuj confirms that the company is working on truly wireless earbuds. However, the actual release date of the headphones is still unknown.
“From a team perspective, one of our key priorities for 2022 is going beyond phones. I don’t want to say anything, saying that we will definitely do this, because we have been trying to do this for the last, I think, five blocks. And we basically ran into roadblocks, basically saying internally that we don’t like it, or that it doesn’t really reach a certain threshold,”he added.
