Rockstar Games details for GTA V and GTA Online on next-gen consoles, including graphics modes, story mode port progress and more

GTA V and Online will release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 15, 2022. As the release date approaches, Rockstar has released some additional details about the next-gen updates and what players can expect from the game.

For starters, GTA V and Online on next-gen consoles will include “high quality PC graphics”and new graphics modes. There will be 3 graphics modes in total, each focusing on one particular aspect of the visual presentation. Fidelity mode focuses on the highest image quality with native resolutions up to 4K and 30 fps.

Performance mode prioritizes frame rate over precision to deliver extremely responsive gaming experience with upscaled 4K resolution at 60fps. The PS5 and Xbox Series X will also feature Performance RT mode, a combination of Fidelity and Performance that provides 4K resolution upscaling with ray tracing turned on and aimed at 60fps.

Rockstar confirms new details for GTA V and Online on next-gen consoles

The games will offer improvements across the board, including faster load times, increased population and traffic diversity, as well as increased vegetation, improved lighting and shadows. Rockstar claims it will be a complete visual overhaul, even with improved anti-aliasing, motion blur, and highly detailed new explosions, fire, and “much more.”

As with most PS5 games, one of the most talked about aspects of the games is the implementation of Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers. GTA V and Online on PS5 will include new experiences with weather effects, directional damage, uneven road surfaces, explosions and more.

In terms of audio, games will also include immersive audio using Tempest 3D positional audio on PS5 and Spatial Sound on Xbox Series X/S.

Grand Theft Auto Online Updates

GTA Online has been a great success over the years, with each new content update bringing in new players. As the game’s success snowballed, the next-gen version of the game provides even more room for content expansion.

On next generation consoles, Grand Theft Auto Online will include a number of new vehicles and a new addition to the Los Santos Car Meet, Hao’s Special Works. The store features best-in-class vehicle upgrades, a new class of racing using specially modified vehicles, and Hao’s weekly rotation of Special Works time trials.

As previously announced, the game will be available as a standalone game after March 15th and will be free for the first 3 months. New players trying to climb the criminal ladder in Los Santos will be able to use the game’s newest feature, the Career Builder.

Career Builder is designed specifically for new players or those who want to reset their character settings for a fresh start. Through this feature, players will receive GTA$4,000,000 in a selection of essentials, including business properties, vehicles, and weapons.

Saving data and transferring characters

Starting today, players will be able to transfer their GTA V Story Mode achievements and online progress to the Rockstar Games Social Club. By uploading a save to Social Club, players will be able to transfer their entire story mode, as well as online character progression, to games when they launch on March 1st.

This transfer includes any characters, GTA$, progress, stats, vehicles, properties, weapons, clothing and more.
