Twelve South’s updated HiRise Pro stand with hidden MagSafe charger bay will elevate your MacBook and charge your iPhone at the same time.
- Accessory maker Twelve South has updated its HiRise Pro MacBook stand to include a MagSafe charger housing in the base.
- Now you can use the updated HiRise Pro to both raise your Mac laptop to eye level and charge your iPhone under the laptop.
- This is the first complete redesign of HiRise Pro introduced in 2012.
Twelve South’s HiRise Pro is now MagSafe Ready
Crafted from metal with a vegan leather finish, the updated HiRise Pro includes a hidden Apple MagSafe charger camera at its base. You’ll need to provide your own MagSafe charger, which Apple sells for $39 since it’s not included. The best thing about the new accessory is that your MagSafe charger stays hidden.
Just place your iPhone (or AirPods) on the HiRise Pro base and MagSafe will take it from there. You can just as easily detach the charger from the HiRise Pro—simply lift up the stand to remove the MagSafe charger.
Twelve South says the built-in MagSafe case works with other magnetic disk chargers as long as they are 55 x 5mm, such as Apple’s MagSafe charger.
“We have tested several options such as the Mophie Snap+ Wireless Charger and the JSAUX Magnetic Wireless Charger and both work great,” the company says.
Our opinion: we are all for optimized jobs
Admittedly, a round charging puck attached to a cord sounds like a great idea (on paper). I bought my MagSafe Charge Disc when MagSafe debuted on the iPhone 12. However, most of the time it collected dust in the drawer as I found the charger impractical for everyday use because it slides off the table easily.
I now also have a HiRise Pro stand that I use whenever I’m working on my MacBook Pro rather than tethered to my desktop writing station.
I love that I can adjust its height from 2.5 to 6 inches (6.35 cm to 15.24 cm), which gives me the ability to comfortably work on my laptop, make FaceTime calls, and align my MacBook Pro with my external monitor, which allows me to sit and type on my MacBook ergonomically without tilting my head down.
