THQ Nordic confirms a remake of Alone in the Dark, a heavily remastered version with no release date yet. Many other games were presented.
Rumors have been circulating for some time that a remake of Alone in the Dark is in development. Today, THQ Nordic confirmed this during their summer showcase. The rumors are (sort of) true. A “reimagined”version of the cult game from 1992 will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, but no release date has been announced.
THQ Nordic confirms Alone in the Dark remake
The original Lovecraftian title is widely considered to be the very first 3D survival horror game (it earned it a Guinness World Record), but fans haven’t had an Alone in the Dark opus to eat since 2015. Either way, this new Game will be the first THQ Nordic license entry since its acquisition from Atari in 2018.
A heavily revised version that does not yet have a release date.
Reimagined by developer Pieces Interactive, this single-player game will feature the original story imagined by Mikael Hadberg, formerly of Soma and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, with creatures drawn by longtime Guillermo del Toro collaborator Guy Davis. The game will also of course include iconic characters, locations and themes from the 1990s trilogy. That being said, THQ Nordic explains that all of the enemies will be brand new.
Many other games have been introduced
Ahead of Alone in the Dark, the publisher showcased many upcoming games during its show, revealing new previews of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed and AEW Fight Forever. The real novelties include the real-time strategy game Tempest Rising, an open-world racing game dubbed Wreckreation and Space for Sale, where you build houses on different planets to sell them to alien buyers.
