Pokémon: fighting type of weakness and resistance

Fighting Pokémon are one of the most popular types in the series, and many want to know about their weaknesses and resistances. Knowing your Pokémon can not only help you put together the best team, but also decide when to switch them in battle. And this type has only 3 weaknesses and resistances for each. So, in this guide, let’s check out the weaknesses and resistances of Fighting-type Pokémon, as well as find out their strengths.

Weaknesses and combat-type resistance

The combat-type weaknesses and resistances below apply not only to recent games, but you can use them for older games such as Gen 2 games.

Weaknesses: Flying, Psychic and Fairy Resistance: Stone, Beetle and Darkness

Here you should keep in mind that the above weaknesses and resistances only work for pure Fighting-type Pokémon. They change depending on the second type of your Fighting Pokémon. For example, let’s say you have Medicham. This Pokémon is a dual-type Pokémon with Fighting and Psychic types. So in this case, his weaknesses are changed to Flying, Ghost and Fairy. And the resistances change to Fighting and Rock.

This is just one example, depending on the different type, you can get a lot more weaknesses or even fewer weaknesses than a pure fighting type Pokemon.

Fight against the strengths of Pokémon

While it may be weak against 3 types, the combat type is actually strong against 5 types. These types are:

  • Super Powerful (2x): Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, and Steel. 2x here describes how using combat moves against these types will allow you to deal 2x damage to them.

There are two more effects you should look into when it comes to attacking:

  • Not very effective (1/2x): Poison, Flying, Psychic, Beetle and Fairy. This means that using combat moves against these types will only do half the damage compared to some other types of attacks.
  • Doesn’t affect Pokémon (0x): Ghost. This means that when you use a Fight Move on a Ghost Pokémon, it won’t affect them in any way.

That covers this guide on the weaknesses and resistances of Fighting-type Pokémon and their strengths.
