Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: how to beat Cassiopeia

In every Pokémon game, you will encounter a villainous team with evil motives. As you progress through the game, you will have to defeat the stronger opponents of these teams. In the case of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Team Star is a group of antagonistic criminals that you need to defeat. As you progress through the Starfall Street storyline, you will encounter the leaders of this group. At the end you will have a showdown against Cassiopeia, the leader of this group. In this article, we will tell you how to defeat Cassiopeia in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Cassiopeia’s personality is a major spoiler, so read no further if you want to avoid it.

How to beat Cassiopeia in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

After defeating all five Team Star leaders, Cassiopeia will call you to meet at night in the Academy’s schoolyard. When you get there, you will see your old friend Clive at the entrance. We suggest you save the game and heal your team before approaching him. As you may have guessed, here you will fight Clive.

How to defeat Principal Clavell (Boss Fight)

After a short cutscene, Clive will reveal that he has been Principal Clavell all this time. On top of that, he reveals that he is Cassiopeia and it is up to you to defeat him. He has a good team of Pokémon with different elemental types. To make matters worse, it has a Pokémon that is stronger than your starting type. His last three Pokémon will change based on your starting selection. Here are the Pokémon he will use against you.

Keep in mind that he will turn his last Pokémon into an elemental type. So, build a team that has stronger elements than these Pokémon and you can defeat Cassiopeia. But wait. After defeating Principal Clavell, he reveals that he is not Cassiopeia and wanted to test your skills before facing the real one. He will then ask you to go to the schoolyard at night to meet and defeat the real Cassiopeia. Make sure you heal your Pokémon before heading there. Once you get to the schoolyard, a cutscene will start showing Penny as the real Cassiopeia.

How to beat Penny (star team leader – Cassiopeia)

Penny’s entire team consists of Eeveelutions at levels 62 to 63. Therefore, it will be difficult to defeat her if your Pokémon is at the same level or lower. Also, keep in mind the range of her elemental types. That being said, here’s what you have to do against each of her Pokémon to defeat Cassiopeia in Scarlet and Violet.

• Umbreon: This is a Dark-type Pokémon with excellent Sp. Protection stat. Thus, using physical attacks would be very effective against him. It’s best to use Fairy, Bug, or Fighting-type Pokemon against this.
• Flareon: Her team’s fiery type with insane attack stats. However, he has a good Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense stats, so using physical attacks will deal good damage. You can use Water, Ground, and Rock Pokémon against him.
• Vaporeon: This is a Water-type Pokémon with a huge HP bar. Like the earlier ones, this one also has a good Sp. Attack and Sp. Protection stat. Thus, using a physical attacking grass or electric type will ensure your victory. Moves like Thunder Fang and Trop Kick work well against this Pokémon.
• Leafeon: This is a Grass-type Pokémon with huge defense stats, good attack, and speed. Thus, using Sp. Attacks will be very effective against this. This Pokémon is weak against Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, and Bug types. Use attacks like Flamethrower and Sludge Bomb to defeat him.
• Jolteon: This is an Electric-type Pokémon with tremendous speed. Has a good Sp. Attack and special defense as well. So physical attacks are the way out. It is weak against Ground-type Pokémon, so attacks such as Burrow and Earthquake can defeat it in one hit.
• Sylveon: This is the last Pokémon on her team that is a Fairy type. She also terrastylizes him to make him even stronger. Has a huge Sp. Defense with good HP and Sp. Attack. But it is weak against Poison and Steel Pokémon. So using physical attacks like Behemoth Blade and Cross Poison will help.

After defeating Penny, she will tell Team Star’s story in a short cutscene. You can then meet her at the bottom of the school stairs where she will give you the TM 169 Draco Meteor.

Tips for defeating Cassiopeia in Scarlet and Violet

• Level up your Pokémon with candy before fighting Penny.
• Check out the moves that work best against Cassiopeia and buy them at the Poké Center to defeat her.
• Buy combat items like the Quick Claw and Muscle Band and get your Pokémon to hold them. This will boost their strength a bit and you can purchase them from Delibird stores.
