Bethesda PC Launcher users can upgrade to Steam

These are the final days of the Bethesda PC Launcher. Players can start the migration on Steam.

It’s time to say goodbye to Bethesda’s PC launcher. Starting today, players can transfer their game library, as well as DLC, virtual currency, in-game items, and friends lists, to their Steam account. Users have until May 11th to take advantage of the Bethesda PC Launcher. After this date, the launcher will no longer allow access to any games, but users will still be able to access their Bethesda.net account and transfer their games to Steam after May 11th.

However, players who are ready to migrate should take the time to read the detailed instructions on the Bethesda website. All games and purchases that players already own will be available for free on Steam. But keep in mind that the transfer process can be somewhat dangerous. While most saves should be transferred automatically, some will require manual control in order to be accessed from Steam.

Players can start migrating on Steam

For example, DOOM Eternal players will need to manually copy their save files to the Steam folder. Bethesda offers step-by-step instructions for the DOOM Eternal case. Fallout 76 players should also be aware that a dedicated tool is available to them to make this migration easier, as well as an FAQ to read before starting. At the time of this writing, Wolfenstein: Youngblood is not available for transfer. In other words, players won’t be able to complete their progress on Steam, but skins and other DLCs should be able to complete normally.

While porting its game library might seem boring, Bethesda wants to smooth things over by bringing a number of games to Steam for the first time. Compatible games include The Elder Scrolls Arena, The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall, Creation Kit for Fallout 4, Skyrim Special Edition, or even Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. The Fallout 76 Public Test Server is now available on Steam.
