Earlier this year, on January 6, 2022, Hollywood legend and activist Sidney Poitier passed away. On January 11, it was announced that Oprah Winfrey will be executive producing a new documentary on the life and times of the icon. And finally we have our first trailer.

The upcoming Apple TV+ documentary directed by Reginald Hudlin (House Party) will not only chronicle Poitier’s life over the years, but will also include a series of interviews with other Hollywood celebrities such as Denzel Washington, Robert Redford, Halle Berry, and others. There are also interviews with Lenny Kravitz and Barbra Streisand.

Sidney will tell the story of Poitier’s life as a Hollywood legend, actor and director, and his involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. Here is a description of Apple TV+:

Produced by Oprah Winfrey and directed by Reginald Hudlin, this candid documentary focuses on the legendary Sidney Poitier and his legacy as an iconic actor, filmmaker and activist at the center of Hollywood and the Civil Rights Movement.
