Finally there are meta-accounts. You no longer need a Facebook account to use your Quest headset. However, you must create a Meta account and a Horizon profile.
Meta announced this a few weeks ago and now it’s done. The American giant’s virtual reality headsets are (finally) no longer dependent on Facebook, as it’s no longer necessary to use a Facebook account to use these devices. A very good thing, of course, but requires the creation of another account.
Finally got meta accounts
Finally there are meta-accounts. For now, Facebook parent company Meta is making the new login system available to Quest headset owners. “Upgrading will occur globally gradually. In other words, if you don’t yet have the option to create a Meta account and a Horizon profile, you will receive a corresponding update very soon,”the company said in a press release.
You no longer need a Facebook account to use your Quest headset.
If your headset is currently linked to an Oculus account, you will need to sign up for a Meta account to continue using your device after January 1, 2023. The company announced this new system last month, bringing the company back to Menlo Park on its highly controversial decision to require a Facebook account to use an Oculus headset.
However, you must create a Meta account and a Horizon profile.
While you don’t actually need a Facebook or Instagram account anymore, you can still use these services to create a meta account. Conversely, if you’ve already linked your device to Facebook, you can remove your profile from your new meta account and use an email address instead. Once that’s done, you’ll need to create a complete Meta Horizon profile, specifically one with a unique username, to be able to take full advantage of the metaverse’s vision, according to the American giant.
