If you’ve been patiently waiting for the iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1 jailbreak, which wasn’t just for developers, you might be in for a real treat very soon.
An upcoming tool based on Fugu15, named @iarchiveml and /u/EmuNew3569 ra1ncloud, aims to offer a user-friendly jailbreak solution to the general public, and like Fugu15 is expected to support a subset of arm64e devices (iPhone XS and newer). Unclear, whether iPhone XR with 3GB RAM will be supported.
Details about the jailbreak are extremely limited at the moment, primarily because it hasn’t been released yet. But EmuNew3569 posted teaser screenshots of ra1ncloud to /r/jailbreak on Thursday afternoon and suggested it would be available very soon.
As far as we can tell, ra1ncloud will be a semi-tethered no-root jailbreak, which means users won’t be able to mess around with the OS/root folder. It also won’t support implementing tweaks initially, but should in the future.
Another note to keep in mind is that ra1ncloud is meant to be an easy jailbreak, while the XinaA15 alternative jailbreak is complex, buggy, and developer oriented. This is a big deal, as the long-delayed and possibly canceled Cheyote iOS 15.0-15.1.1 jailbreak by the Odyssey Team was supposed to fill this gap, but never did.
While iOS 15 is far from current iOS these days, it’s still nice to see the jailbreak community moving forward despite all the hurdles Apple has put in place. It will be interesting to see how this project develops and we will be following it very closely.
