FIFA 23 is finally out with a lot of new content. But as players continue their final grind, they run into lag issues. Since this is a fast-paced soccer game, you can’t afford any frame drops or stutters. There can be several reasons for these problems. We’ve put together a few ways to fix these issues. So here is our guide on how to fix lag, stuttering and frame dropping issues in FIFA 23.
How to Fix Lag, Stuttering and Frame Drop Issues in FIFA 23
The following are some potential methods for solving these problems:
Check system requirements
Your device may experience these issues if it doesn’t meet the minimum requirements. So here are the minimum requirements for FIFA 23:
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: At least Intel Core i5 6600k or AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 570
- Storage: 100 GB of free space
- DirectX: version 12
Here are the recommended system requirements:
- Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit)
- Processor: At least Intel Core i7 6700 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
- Memory: 12GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT
In addition to these requirements, you also need a constant internet connection to run the game.
Check your internet connection
- You may experience lag and frame drops due to an unstable internet connection.
- If you are using a wireless connection and are experiencing difficulties, you can reset your router.
- We suggest using a wired Ethernet rather than a wireless connection for a smooth and stable connection.
Switch to lower graphics and resolution
As mentioned earlier, you may experience freezing or stuttering issues if your PC does not meet the basic requirements. You can lower your resolution and graphics settings to balance these issues. You can go to Windows settings to check your display resolution. You must ensure that the resolution used in the game is the same as the original resolution.
Install the latest GPU drivers
You need to make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can go to their official websites to install the latest available drivers for your GPU. If you have an NVIDIA based system, go to their official website (link). Alternatively, if you have an AMD system, go to their official website (link).
Restore game files
You can restore game files from Steam as well as from Origin if you experience excessive lag and frame drops. Follow the steps below to restore files through the Origin Launcher:
- Launch the Origin launcher or client and navigate to the My Library menu.
- Right-click FIFA 23 and select the Repair Game option.
- This will re-download corrupted files which can cause lag issues.
Follow the steps below to verify game files from Steam:
- Launch the Steam client or launcher and navigate to the library.
- Then right-click on the game and select the Properties option.
- You need to select the Local Files tab and click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.
- If your files are corrupted, it may take some time to re-download. But hopefully this will solve the lag issues.
Reinstalling FIFA 23
Finally, if none of the above options worked, we suggest reinstalling the game.
- You need to uninstall the game and then install it again.
- Then launch FIFA 23 to check if the issue is still there.
This last resort works in most cases. However, if this doesn’t fix your latency issues, we recommend going to the EA Support page for more help.
That’s it for how to fix lag, stuttering and frame drops in FIFA 23.
