Roland and Beukes present the brand’s 50th Anniversary Book, a must-have for all electronic music lovers.
Renowned electronic musical instrument manufacturer Roland is celebrating its 50th anniversary today by collaborating with publisher Bjooks and announcing a very nice collectible book that tells its story. Inspire The Music: 50 Years of Roland History is a 400-page book dedicated to the technology, people and culture that have shaped the company for 50 years to this day.

Throughout the pages, many chapters return to Roland products and their impact on certain musical scenes. Roland and Bjuks explain that Inspire The Music tells the backstory and history of Jupiter-8 synthesizer, Boss guitar pedals, TR-808 drum machine and TB-303 synthesizer/sequencer. The book covers many other devices and accessories such as keyboards, grooveboxes and V-Drums, as well as the history of the SPD-30 multi-percussion pad that allowed it to become a staple of modern music in India.

In addition, Inspire The Music contains dozens of interviews with Roland artists and designers. For example, readers can find testimonials from Johnny Marr of The Smiths, DJ Jazzy Jeff, guitarist Nita Strauss, as well as the Bliss sisters of Faithless, Orbital, Peaches, Swizz Beatz, Jean-Michel Jarre, as well as Nick Rhodes and Roger. Beukes has won first place on Kickstarter and has published a number of highly successful books on topics such as guitar pedals, modular synths, and interface design. In 2020, the publisher teamed up with Moog to release a book full of tips and tricks for the semi-modular Mother line.
Inspire The Music will be released this summer across the Atlantic at a public price not yet announced.
