The manufacturer of the first foldable smartphone is preparing for the third generation of FlexPai 3, here’s your first look

Foldable smartphones are getting popular these days, and phones like Samsung’s Galaxy Flip Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 are devices that many other device manufacturers envy. However, the followers of foldable smartphones do not take Samsung, Huawei or any other major brand as a trailblazer, but the credit goes to the Chinese brand Royole. Launched back in 2018, the Royole FlexPai was the first commercial foldable smartphone anyone could get. While the Royole FlexPai was nowhere near perfect, it did capture the attention of the media and enthusiasts. The company released the Royole FlexPai 2 last year with some improvements and better specs. Looks like they are launching its successor very soon too.

This information comes from none other than Evan Blass, the infamous pundit who shared a render of the upcoming FlexPai 3. From the render, we get an idea of the foldable phone’s design. Royole FlexPai 3 looks flawless. It now has a rear camera module instead of the front right panel. Instead of using the main camera as a selfie camera like previous models, there could be a pop-up selfie camera.

This time, the FlexPai 3 comes with a dual camera on the back rather than a quad camera setup. The Royole FlexPai 3 was recently spotted on TENAA revealing some of its key specs. The listing indicates that the foldable phone will ship with a 7.2-inch display when unfolded and will have a 3,360mAh battery.

FlexPai 2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage. So this year we may see some updates in terms of SoC and storage. However, there has been no word from the company about an official launch of the FlexPai 3, and even when it does, the device may be China-exclusive for a while before it’s ready to ship overseas.
