Qualcomm draws up its Wi-Fi 7 Networking Pro Series 3 platform

Qualcomm introduces its Wi-Fi 7 Networking Pro Series 3 platform for the next generation of routers and access points.

Qualcomm has just formalized its Wi-Fi 7 Networking Pro Series 3 platform, which will be used in high-end routers and other next-generation access points. This platform offers high aggregate throughput (33Gbps with 16 streams and 4 lanes) and very low latency. Connections between devices can reach speeds of 5 to 10 Gbps on the internal network, which is much faster than many wired connections.

Multi-Link from Qualcomm allows you to simultaneously activate three bands (2.4, 5 and 6 GHz) for data transmission. The router is smart enough to dynamically adapt to changes in the network and optimize routes on different bands. This is one of Qualcomm’s “secrets”.

To cover the maximum number of use cases, whether in business or at home, Qualcomm allows you to scale the supported streams and bands. Increasing the number of threads is useful if you have many clients connected at the same time. And the more ranges you have, the more overloads you will avoid. It also helps to improve coverage as different frequencies pass through materials more or less easily. Even the general public should see the difference with the 6 streams and 3 ranges offered at the entry level.

So, admittedly, there’s a chance that laptops and smartphones won’t be able to take full advantage of these new routers. However, some of the benefits will be immediately apparent as Wi-Fi mesh networks use this new technology in their site-to-site communications.

This platform also handles radio overload and interference much more effectively. This should provide a better experience even without switching mobile devices. Qualcomm is currently only providing manufacturers with a few samples of the platform. Undoubtedly, it will take about a year for the first consumer products that take advantage of this advantage to hit the market. By then, high-end smartphones will be ready.
