Quick Draft is an app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that offers single-sheet typing for email drafts, shopping lists, daily errands, and similar ephemeral content.
Apple Notes software for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS has definitely gained a lot of useful features over the years and continues to improve with every iteration.
But the stock Notes app is overkill if all you want to do is write quick notes like food orders, social media or email drafts, random tasks and the like.
Markdown support and interactive checkboxes
Enter Quick Draft for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS by Jason Lane, which offers a simple notepad with temporary storage for your digital notes.
The minimalist app sits in your Mac’s menu bar, waiting for your click. And with one click, you can start taking a quick note without any distractions or features you don’t need. You can copy the draft or share it with another app once you’ve finished writing it. Quick Draw offers basic Markdown support for rich text styling and syncs your content via iCloud across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS platforms.
Quick Draft also supports interactive checkboxes like Apple Notes – great for to-dos and shopping lists. Usually people use the default Notes app for this, but the accumulation of these short-lived items quickly gets out of hand.
Quick Draft is a single page application where you don’t have to scroll through multiple pages. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of an extension, so I could quickly add something to it using the share button in other apps. But if you’re tired of clearing the default Notes app of such content, be sure to give Quick Draft a try and see if you like it.
