Razer Project Sophia, a desktop concept that can also be used as a modular PC

Razer unveils the Project Sophia modular desktop concept, a beautiful beast that won’t be easy to bring to life.

The problem when you build your own computer is that while it is easy enough to build it from scratch or upgrade certain components when it becomes necessary for users who are used to it. For others, for those who know little or nothing about it, the task can be daunting, with all these connections to be made without any certainty that the beast will be able to work.

Razer Unveils Project Sophia Modular Desktop Concept

Razer has been mulling over the idea of a modular PC for a long time. In 2014, a computer game specialist presented his Christine project. Today, eight years later, at CES 2022, the brand is back with a new modular PC concept called Project Sophia. At the same time, unlike Christina, Sophia combines a traditional desktop computer and a PC.

According to Razer, the tray has dedicated slots for various PC components that can be attached or detached using a magnet. There are also various modules and parts that users can choose from, allowing them not only to have their dream PC, but also their dream setup.

A very beautiful beast, which will not come true easily

The desktop itself has a 65- or 77-inch OLED display. In other words, there is no need for other external devices. That being said, before you dream of having one in your home, keep in mind that, like Project Christine or even Project Valerie (a triple screen laptop), this is just a concept. No one knows if Razer is going to release such a beast, let alone when.

Also, one of the big challenges for this Project Sophia will be the same as it was for Project Christine, which is that component makers agree to make parts that work the way Razer wants their modular desktop PC to be. And it’s not obvious. That being said, we have to admit that this is a very good idea.
