Dimensional 9000 SoC outperforms AI benchmarks, ahead of Google Tensor and Exynos 2100

MediaTek announced the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor last month. The new SoC is based on the new ARM v9 architecture and is manufactured on a 4nm process. The Dimensity 9000 processor supports LPDDR5x RAM, a Full HD+ resolution display with a 180Hz refresh rate, and Bluetooth v5.3 standard.

Devices with Dimensity 9000 are not yet on the market. Smartphones with this new SoC will reportedly launch in February 2022. Recent reports suggest that the Redmi K50 series will be the first to use the Dimensity 9000 SoC. While we wait to see the actual performance of the new SoC on phones, we have preliminary chipset test results provided by AI Benchmark.

Dimensity 9000 Tops AI Benchmark test result

If we look at the AI ​​Benchmark list, we can see that the Dimensity 9000 topped the list. The chipset was able to score higher than the Google Tensor processor, Exynos 2100, and Kirin 9000. Needless to say, the actual performance of the Dimensity 9000 will matter on devices, not benchmark scores.

Recall that prior to the introduction of the Dimensity 9000 SoC, Google Tensor outperformed the AI ​​Benchmark score with a score of 256.9. Talking about the features of the new Dimensity 9000 SoC, it has one ARM Cortex-X2 processor core clocked at 3.05GHz, three ARM Cortex-A710 processor cores clocked at 2.85GHz, and four ARM Cortex-A510 processor cores clocked at clocked at 1.8 GHz.

The SoC also includes a 5th generation APU that is claimed to offer 4x better performance and efficiency compared to the previous generation chipset.

The Dimensity 9000 comes with a 10-core ARM Mali-G710 GPU. The ARM Mali-G710 GPU is claimed to be 60% more power efficient than Snapdragon 888’s Adreno GPU. The processor supports up to 180Hz refresh rate at Full HD+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate at QHD+ resolution.

The SoC also supports Wi-Fi 6E 2×2, Bluetooth v5.3, and the new Beidou III-B1C GNSS standard. It also has the ability to shoot 4K HDR video simultaneously on up to three cameras. Dimensity 9000 can handle three 32MP cameras and is the world’s first ISP that can capture 320MP images. The SoC also supports 8K video recording at 30fps and 4K recording at 120fps.
