Last week, WhatsApp announced the rollout of react to messages along with some other features like file sharing up to 2GB and up to 512 members per group. Among all the new features announced by the Meta-owned company, the response to WhatsApp messages was the one that interested most users. According to the company, this feature was introduced to reduce congestion in groups. However, this can be used for private chat as well.
While the announcement of the same was made on May 5, Thursday, this feature began to be gradually rolled out to Android platform beta users over the weekend, and now starting today with the latest update, the message reaction feature is rolling out to users iPhone and Android.
Responses to Messages Broader Rollout Begins
On iOS, a new WhatsApp update was released today that included the react feature. On the other hand, while some Android beta users received the update last weekend, more Android beta users are now receiving the update. Similarly, the same feature is available for some users on the WhatsApp network. However, this feature is not available to many users at the moment, and the company is expected to roll it out to a wider audience in the coming days.
React to WhatsApp messages on iOS
For now, on Android and iPhone, you can long press on a message to see the reaction. You will get six emoji – thumbs up, heart, laughing, wow, sad and praying to choose from and whatsapp will add options in the future. Message reactions can be used for text messages, images, and even videos.
If you don’t already have this feature, be sure to check the App Store if you’re using iOS and the Play Store if you’re using an Android device. It looks like this feature is now going mainstream and most users are expected to get this feature in the next few days. Once you update the app, just press and hold on any text or media to see if you have a reaction.
