Ads may not appear on Netflix in some content, including original films and children’s content. However, nothing is final yet.
Netflix will soon be launching a new offering on its subscriptions, a more affordable offering but with ads, as some competitors are already doing. However, the organization of this advertisement in said proposal is still very vague. Today we have answers on this topic. Explanation.
Ads on Netflix may be missing from some content
This future ad-supported plan may include some ad-free content. Indeed, according to the very serious and often well-informed Bloomberg newspaper, the company would prefer not to include ads in its original films, at least for their premieres on the platform. Ideal for viewing future content licensed from The Gray Man. By doing so, Netflix hopes to keep its service appealing to filmmakers, who might find the idea of putting ads in the middle of their creations uncomfortable.
Including original films and children’s content
Content for children can also be ad-free. Netflix would tell partners that it would not offer ads in original content for children. Some of the Company’s current agreements also do not allow advertising. Netflix believes that showing ads to children can cause more problems than anything else. In 2019, Google had to pay $170 million for violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act after the FTC found that the giant was illegally collecting data about children.
However, nothing is final yet.
Bloomberg also points out that Netflix is still in the process of finalizing its promotional package and the company’s strategy on the matter may change before the actual launch date. As such, code recently discovered by developer Steve Moser suggests that this new offering may not offer offline browsing (downloading). Netflix was quick to respond to this rumor, saying it was still trying to “figure out how to launch a less expensive ad-supported package.”To be continued!
