Last year, reports surfaced that Ubisoft was working with WeGame (Tencent) on a Rainbow Six Siege game for mobile, and it looks like the game could be unveiled in April. The mobile game rumors came after Ubisoft Halifax sent out a game testing survey to test Rainbow Six Siege’s appeal to the mobile gaming community.
According to a new report from Tom Henderson, Tencent’s fourth quarterly earnings report details “Projects with Ubisoft”slated for release in 2023 and beyond. Henderson reveals that Ubisoft will unveil its next mobile game on April 6, most likely to be Rainbow Six Siege for mobile.
The game is one of Ubisoft’s most successful live service titles and is perfect for a mobile port.
Rainbow Six Siege for mobile could be unveiled as early as April
Rainbow Six Siege has grown rapidly since its launch and has established itself as a solid competitive multiplayer shooter on PC and consoles. The game also has a thriving esports scene that has been on the rise for most of the last decade.
However, there may be concerns in the gaming community about whether the tactical competitive style of play will translate well to a mobile platform. There are few details about the game, but we will most likely find out more on April 6th.
It seems that most major publishers are pushing for more games to be released on mobile platforms, and that only makes sense given the incredibly large mobile audience. Games like Apex Legends have made the transition to mobile, and soon Warzone for mobile will also be available on that platform.
Reports also say that Ubisoft is looking for more IP addresses for mobile devices, including the likes of The Division and Assassin’s Creed.
