Renfield: Nicolas Cage will play Dracula on the big screen

American comedian Nicolas Cage got the role of Dracula in the film “Renfield”with Nicholas Hoult and Nora “Awkwafina”Lum.

Nicolas Cage (Ju-Jitsu, Willie’s Wonderland, Prisoners of Ghostland) will answer Nicholas Hoult (Tolkien, The Banker, The True History of the Kelly Gang), who will be R. M. Renfield’s interpreter. In Bram Stoker’s original novel, this character was a demented inmate of a mental institution who was thought to be delusional but was actually Dracula’s servant. The cast also consists of Nora “Awkwafina”Lum (Shan-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Raya and the Last Dragon, The Little Mermaid), but her role is currently unknown.

Dracula, the start of a new cinematic universe for Universal?

Universal is committed to creating filmmaker-driven projects based on characters from the studio’s vast legacy. Instead of advocating the mandatory modernization of these “monstrous”stories and fitting them into a larger scheme, Universal loosened those restrictions and left the field open to filmmakers who were inspired to create their own unique stories.
