Classic Mercenary Mode is back in Resident Evil 4 Remake almost 2 weeks after its release. For those who don’t know, this is a DLC mode where players get to play as other characters from the RE Universe. In addition, there are some additional rewards that you can unlock by killing enemies. You probably don’t want to miss this special DLC pack. That being said, here is the Mercenary Mode release date and steps to unlock it in RE4 Remake.
How to unlock mercenary mode in Resident Evil 4 Remake? (Date of issue)
Mercenaries Mode will be released as free DLC at midnight April 7th EST. To get it, you just need to go to the respective platform’s content store. From there, you can download this DLC for free. Also, keep in mind that your game needs to be updated to the latest version 1.04. After that, you can access this mode through the main menu screen of the game.
Luckily, you don’t have to complete the main story to access the mercenaries in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
How to play Mercenaries in RE4 Remake

In Resident 4 Remake Mercenaries mode, you can fight on 3 different maps – Village, Castle and Island. The village is unlocked by default, however the last 2 will eventually be unlocked. You play as Leon (default character) to initially fend off enemies. You earn points based on the fight you have. In addition, the number of points you earn has a corresponding rank. Here they are:
- C++ – 1,000,000
- C+ – 500,000
- C – 200 000
- A – 100,000
To unlock other characters such as Louis, Krauser and Hunk, you need to get an A rank or higher at any stage. In addition, you can also unlock the Handcannon Magnum by earning an S rank or higher in all 3 stages. This weapon will also be available for use in the main story mode.
