Yann Demange will direct Blade for Marvel, with Michael Starrbury in charge of the script.
After parting ways with director Bassam Tariq, Marvel quickly moved forward and found not only a replacement, but also a new screenwriter, betting on Jan Demange (Best Boy, Lovecraft Country, White Boy Rick, Dummy) and Michael Starrbury (“Black Jack”, “Inevitable Defeat”). “Mr. and Pete”, “Legends of Chamberlain Heights”, “Colin in Black and White”). Comedian Mahershala Ali and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will executive produce the new Blade. The release schedule has also been changed, as the film will now hit theaters on September 6, 2024, with filming set to begin next year in Atlanta.

Yann Demange plans to direct a mature film “Blade”
With enough time to meet with various candidates, Marvel was able to focus on a writer and director who could set the right tone for the new Blade adaptation. While it probably won’t be as dark as previous films, Marvel wants to use a darker tone for this than it has for other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects in the past. After weeks of meetings, French director Yann Demange landed the job following a presentation that sparked enthusiasm from Marvel Studios experts.
