Robert Rodriguez to reboot ‘Spy Kids’ with Netflix reboot

The new Spy Kids film will be produced in collaboration with Skydance Media and Spyglass Media.

After various talks with Netflix, Robert Rodriguez (Matador, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett) will write and direct a new Spy Kids movie that will feature a new family of spies. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce for Skydance Media, which will oversee development and production. Elizabeth Avellan and Racer Max will also serve as producers. Gary Barber and Peter Oylatagerr will serve as executive producers for Spyglass Media, owner of the rights to the Spy Kids franchise.

Consists of feature films Spy Kids (2021), Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams (2002), Spy Kids 3: Game Over (2003), Spy Kids: All the Time in world” (2011) and “Spy”. The children’s spy franchise Kids: Mission Critical (2018) grossed over $550 million worldwide.

Netflix and family content

New Spy Kids have officially been ordered as Netflix continues to prioritize family content. The U.S. Service recently had a big hit with The Adam Ryan Reynolds Project, which is one of the most viewed original programs in the first 28 days. Other family projects are in development, including Jason Momoa’s Dreamland, Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola Holmes 2, and The School for Good and Evil, starring Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington.
