Shazam is now a Chrome extension

Shazam is now available as an extension for Google Chrome in beta with many bugs.

Shazam is a great tool if you want to identify a song you hear on TV, radio, or movies. But what if you’re sitting at your computer and you hear a song on a website or video you’re watching? Today, the service offers an almost perfect solution.

Shazam is now available as an extension for Google Chrome

Sometimes we are lucky and the creator of said video gives the name of the artist and the name of the song. But this, unfortunately, is not always the case. Good news today. You no longer have to run to your phone as Shazam is now available as an extension for Google Chrome. All you have to do is download and install like any extension through the Chrome Web Store and you’re good to go!

Beta version with a lot of bugs currently

It works just like Shazam on your phone, but the main difference here is that it’s on your computer. You will no longer need to unlock your smartphone and launch the app as you can click directly to start the analysis. Unfortunately, it looks like the extension is far from perfect right now.

Indeed, some users report that the extension simply does not work for them. It’s hard to know if this is because it’s just a beta, or if the problem is deeper, so to speak. So be aware that if you download an extension, it won’t work. Also, for some unknown reason, it’s still not possible to log into your Shazam account to sync and listen to previously defined songs, which can be very practical. Hopefully the developers will fix these bugs soon.
