There are a plethora of business and finance simulation games on the App Store. However, most of them just help you get rid of boredom, and you don’t get much value in return except a dopamine boost. Although these games improve your puzzle-solving skills and reflexes, there are limited use-case scenarios for them in the real world. Ultimate Business Quest claims to change this with their new Business Empire Game for iPhone.

Business Empire: Gamifying entrepreneurship

If you don’t understand business but want to start one of your own, you’ll need some guidance. Albeit, what if you can learn business in a fun, gamified way?

I’ve played the game for a few days, and I’ll be reviewing this game that teaches you business while you play it called Business Empire.

User interface

The UI of the game isn’t that simple, to be honest. When you open the game, it asks you to sign in or create an account (you can use Google, Apple, and Facebook logins), which is self-explanatory. My Apple sign-in didn’t go through for some reason, so I had to create a new account.

Once you log in to the game, you’ll get a guide that shows the different UI elements and their purpose, and it’s still confusing, especially for beginners. The interface could be better in many terms, and the first thing they can do is introduce game elements one after another so the user doesn’t get overwhelmed.

Gameplay

My gameplay had many roadblocks. Whichever element I click, it says the area or place is coming soon, except one which asked me to complete the Archetype Quiz first in the Realm Town.

After digging through and finding Realm town, you find some lessons, and I listened to all of them. Each of them rewarded me with five coins; since there were 8, I ended up with 40. You don’t know how many coins you have since there’s no way to check it in the game.

Even after I did it, I waited for a quiz to pop up, but it didn’t. I selected the Connect tab again, but still no progress. After a lot of searching throughout the game, I couldn’t find any clue. Although Realm Town had many business lessons, those didn’t have a gamified approach.

The game should be clear from the beginning and provide a step-by-step guide for users (who are beginners) so they understand and start playing the game smoothly. Unfortunately, I couldn’t progress anymore in the game after several tries. You can also hear a lot of podcasts in the game if you’re into them, but it still leaves a lot to be desired from a gaming perspective.

Should you download Business Empire?

Value for money

I can’t say “yes” as of yet! The game is of use only if you’re looking to watch a few videos about business, which are of good value, but still, most of that information about running a business is also available on the internet.

Also, there’s no way to unlock anything because there’s no progress in the game, and most of the content isn’t ready yet. I wish I could enjoy this game, but unfortunately, the game hasn’t reached its full potential yet.

Final thoughts…

The Business Empire game is downloadable free of cost, and there’s no harm in trying the game for yourself. Instead, I suggest investing that time in something like business lessons or a better game. Lastly, the Business Empire game has a lot of room for improvement, and the makers should ensure that it doesn’t feel like an unfinished game.
