If you look at the Now Playing lock screen media interface on an iOS 16 device next to an iOS 15 device, you’ll notice some aesthetic differences.
iOS developer ETHN has just released a new jailbreak tweak called SixteenMusic that brings the new Lock Screen Now Playing aesthetic to older jailbroken versions of iOS so that even users who shy away from updates can feel like they’re using the latest software..
As you can see in the sample screenshots above, the SixteenMusic UI gives users a good idea of the album art and easy-to-understand media controls that should look and feel familiar if you’ve ever used an iOS 16 device before.
You’ll see that the tweak supports both portrait and landscape orientations, and that it works well with missed notifications so you can see everything that’s important at a glance.
Once installed, users will find a dedicated settings panel in the Settings app where they can customize SixteenMusic to their liking:
Here you can set the following options:
- Enable or disable SixteenMusic on demand
- Turning off the background
- Enabling landscape support
- Choose between Regular, Compact, or Large Now Playing Styles
The developer provides an “Apply”button in the upper right corner of the settings panel in the form of a checkmark that allows you to save any changes made here.
Since people have different opinions on what looks best, it’s brilliant that the developer not only brought the iOS 16 aesthetic to jailbroken iOS 14 and 15 devices with SixteenMusic, but also gave users the option to choose their playback style.
If you’re interested in improving your phone’s Now Playing experience by making it more like an iOS 16 device, you can purchase the new SixteenMusic jailbreak tweak from the Havoc repository for just $0.99.
