Snapchat is launching a restore feature so you don’t lose your Snapstreaks. Convenient, of course, if you are willing to pay.
Many Snapchat users may have become obsessed with keeping their Snapstreaks since the feature launched, sometimes maintaining several hundred with a few friends. The popularity of this feature may have waned somewhat because real life is more important after all, but today Snap launched an experimental feature that might help you not lose your progress if you miss a day. Now you can simply click “Restore”to pretend that the mistake never happened.

However, there is a limitation to using this feature: users are only entitled to one free Snap recovery. As TechCrunch points out, if you want to avoid losing more Snapstreaks, you’ll have to buy Restores in the app – count for $1 each in the US. In its press release, the company also explained that it will “soon”provide Snapchat+ subscribers with a way to freeze their streaks for an extended period of time. She didn’t go into details about how the option works, but Snap said users will be able to “pause activities when they know they won’t be available.”

Announcements of new features came shortly after Snap added an OpenAI chatbot similar to ChatGPT to its app. The chatbot looks like a standard user profile, presumably to pass it off as a real virtual friend, though Snap admits it can be “caught saying anything”. The company even apologized in advance for the “many shortcomings.”The chatbot is currently only available to Snapchat+ users who pay $4 a month for the service, but the company is already planning to roll it out globally soon.
