The sequel to the beloved game Sons of The Forest is finally out, and it’s even better than the first part. The game improves on its predecessor in every conceivable way. Sons of the Forest is very open in its approach, and players who are new to the survival horror series or genre may be overwhelmed with choices. Let’s take a look at a few tricks you can use to get through your first day at Sons of The Forest.
Tips for surviving your first day at Sons of the Forest
The exact location of these locations may vary from player to player, as your starting location may differ. Below are tips you can use to not only survive your first day, but also build a solid foundation from which to play.
Don’t Forget Kelvin
You can skip another victim of the crash, Kelvin. You can also just kill him for loot, but we suggest you hold that momentum. Kelvin is a valuable ally in the early game. The best way to use him is to get yourself some food by telling him to bring you fish. He can additionally get you stones and logs that can be used in crafting. It’s always good to have a few extra pairs of hands when it comes to survival.
Loot to survive
Once you help Kelvin, start looting everything you see around the crash site. You’ll find great food, ammo, and crafting tools to come in handy throughout the game. Be careful not to hold down the E key while picking up medicines and food, as you will be consuming them rather than storing them in your first aid kit. Looting is the best strategy in the long run, so always collect everything you can find during your travels.
Use a 3D printer
Use the GPS from your emergency package to find the location of the 3D printer. The cave can be found to the right of the crash site next to an oval lake into which 4 rivers flow. Once you enter the cave, you can use the 3D printer to make yourself canteens, hooks, and other useful items. But the most important of them at the start is the Mask. Learn more about the mask in this guide.
Build a shelter
Open your travel guide and press X to open floor plans. The small log cabin is the easiest to build in the game. The location of your log cabin is also very important as building on such rough terrain as snow is counter-intuitive. Look for flat land near a water source, such as a lake or river. A river or lake is a great place for both water and hydration, building your log cabin next to it is a great way to get far in the game.
