Hermann Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, says:
Savage Game Studios is an incredibly talented creative team with years of experience developing popular mobile games around the world. This studio was founded several years ago with the goal of fearlessly exploring bold new ideas. We share their drive for continuous innovation, as well as their desire to expand our audience and welcome more and more people into the PlayStation universe. As such, this team has proven to be the perfect choice to expand our family (…) Our mobile gaming efforts will complement our existing activities to offer the public new ways to interact with our content and reach new audiences that are not yet familiar with the PlayStation universe or our games. Savage Game Studios brings together a new division of PlayStation Studios dedicated to mobile games, which will work independently from our console development department. This new division will focus on creating innovative mobile apps based on current and future PlayStation franchises.
Savage Game Studios Reaction to Sony Interactive Entertainment Acquisition
Savage Game Studios, founded in 2020 by Mikhail Cutkoff, Najim Ajir and Michael McManus, is on a mission to bring PlayStation’s flagship licenses to smartphones to reach new audiences. Several projects are already in development, including an AAA action game.
Mikhail Cutkoff, CEO and co-founder of Savage Game Studios, explains:
Savage Game Studios is the result of our many years of experience in mobile game development, which has given birth to franchises that have achieved great success on an international scale. Our guiding vision was to create a creative space by making experimentation and risk-taking not traps to be avoided but philosophies to be embraced. We’ve all worked with big studios, and while we respect the benefits of big resources, we wanted to keep working on a small scale to maintain our flexibility and freedom of choice. “Then why join PlayStation Studios?”- you ask. We have entered into this agreement because we believe that the management of PlayStation Studios, in addition to respecting our mode of operation and our vision for success, shares our taste for innovation. Add to that the ability to access PlayStation’s incredible catalog of franchises, as well as the breadth of support that only PlayStation Studios can offer, and the question isn’t so much “Why join them?”than “Why not join them?”.
