Sony Plans To Introduce New PlayStation Subscription Service This Week: What We Know So Far

Over the past few months, rumors of a subscription service from PlayStation similar to Xbox Game Pass have been steadily gaining momentum. According to a new Bloomberg report, it looks like PlayStation is poised to introduce a new service as early as next week.

The service has been in development on PlayStation, apparently codenamed “Spartacus”and works very similarly to Xbox Game Pass. For those unfamiliar with Game Pass, it’s essentially an Xbox subscription service that gives players access to a large catalog of games without any additional purchases.

Xbox Game Pass has been a resounding success for both Microsoft and the developers whose games are included with Game Pass. It only makes sense for PlayStation to compete with its own service.

Sony may be ready to introduce PlayStation “Spartacus”next week

There are several rumors floating around the internet that suggest that Sony may have a few irons on fire at the moment. Greg Miller of Kinda Funny Games recently mentioned three “major”announcements from Sony in the coming week. There’s a good chance that at least one of them could be a planned Game Pass-like service.

Reports from earlier this year suggest that the new service will seek to combine PlayStation Plus and Now into one comprehensive service. The price tiers for the same have also apparently been leaked, but Sony has yet to confirm them officially.
