Sony is reportedly working on a movie based on its game Days Gone, a project that could be very successful.
We say this and repeat it regularly, adapting a video game for the big screen, and for the small one too, is always a risky business. Several projects have been successful. That being said, some recent successes seem to be giving studios ideas. Today we learn that Sony will be working on a film based on the video game Days Gone.
Sony is reportedly working on a movie based on its Days Gone game.
Days Gone may never have a real sequel, but its interesting post-apocalyptic story may make its way into our dark rooms. Indeed, according to Deadline, Sony-owned PlayStation Productions will develop a 2019 film adaptation of the game. Outlander’s Sam Heughan will star in a script written by The One We Owe’s Airborne or X-Men: First Class, Sheldon Turner. Deadline also reports that he presents the film as a “romantic ode to motorcycle movies”.
A project that could be a big success
After acclaiming critically acclaimed game adaptations like The Last of Us and Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone might seem like a rather surprising choice for Sony. After all, if the game has sold around 9 million copies, this is one of the least well-received first-person games in years. However, ever since Sony decided to bring the game to PC, success seems to have come again. Search the game on YouTube and you’ll find tons of videos trying to answer the question of whether or not you should keep playing Days Gone in 2022. The reviews on Steam say pretty much the same thing. Out of 26,146 reviews, the opinion is “Very positive”.
