Apple is reportedly working on its own Apple Music app for macOS to achieve performance that should be significantly better.
iTunes originated as a music app where users could buy music and store all of their songs. The app has also been used to transfer said songs to the iPod, and over the years it has evolved to include a number of very different features, sometimes too many according to some users.
Apple is reportedly working on its own Apple Music app for macOS
As a result of the work, the application turned out to be so complex in terms of functions that the Cupertino company decided to split it into several independent applications. Today, according to a tweet from @basiliskblaze, it looks like the Apple brand is working on the music part to make it a native app for macOS devices.
For those who may not know, although the iTunes music section ended up in a separate music app, it relies on the iTunes backend to deliver content from the web to the app. In other words, the application is currently just a container. In fact, if the application is really lighter than iTunes, the result is far from ideal.
For performances that need to skyrocket
According to a tweet we’re interested in today, the latest macOS 12.2 beta shows that the Apple Music app now uses AppKit, the native UI framework for macOS. This means that the app should run faster and more efficiently when completely converted to a native macOS app.
That being said, while this code is present in the macOS 12.2 beta, there is currently no way to know if this conversion will be completed in time for the next update. If that were the case, it would be very good for users of the Apple Music app on Mac. I hope the developers finished the work on time. We have to settle very quickly, just a little patience.
