What is Sorare?
Sorare is what is called a fantasy football game. That is, it is based on the real performances of your favorite players. It is based on Ethereum, and therefore the price of cards (which are NFTs, and therefore unique digital goods) of the various available players depend on variations of this cryptocurrency.
Principle: You line up 5 players (goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker and an additional who can be a defender, midfielder or striker) and must show the best results according to the data recorded by Opta, the leader. data in the world of football.
Sorare currently covers 227 clubs and 10 full leagues: MLS (USA), JLeague (Japan), KLeague (South Korea), Jupiler (Belgium), Eredivisie (Netherlands), Austrian Bundesliga (Austria), Super Toto Super League (Turkey)), Russian Premier League (Russia), Bundesliga (Germany) and La Liga (Spain). To show the evolution of Sorare, in February 2021 only 5 of these championships were fully licensed.
Each player of these licensed clubs each season has several card rarities:
- 1000 cards limited (yellow)
- 100 rare cards (red)
- 10 super rare cards (blue)
- 1 single card (black)
There are 1,111 Killian Mbappe cards released each season. As you can imagine, restricted cards are worth less than one card.
These maps are aligned to different divisions, which we will introduce to you below.
Registration

When registering, you will be asked about your favorite club. Choose well! Indeed, you will receive several regular (untradeable) cards from this club. These community cards may allow you to win a limited number of cards (so they can be sold). The better your community cards, the higher your chances of finishing in the top 3 in the overall division.
In addition, having a common goalkeeper will allow you to play in rare divisions, which is very important and therefore the best goalkeepers should be preferred.
Don’t forget to post your community cards on each GW in the “Common”section. There are 100% rewards, and while only the top 3 in the division will get a tradable card, your overall team upgrade is moving towards free rewards.
After completing the tutorial, you will need to start your first auctions in order to create your first team.
If we can give you a new piece of advice: define your strategy before you buy! Before you begin, determine the budget you are willing to invest (and lose, remember) and your expectations.
Strategy?
Yes, there is an important part of the strategy on Sorare.
You will need to choose the players that you will unite in one of the many available divisions.
In limited edition (cards with a circulation of 1000 copies) there are 6 divisions:
- European Champion: Only players from the 5 biggest leagues (Bundesliga, La Liga, Calcio, Ligue 1 and Premier League) can be included here.
- Challenger Europe: All other European Championships can be combined into this division, as well as the English 2nd Division.
- Asia: Jleague, Kleague and players transferred to China are eligible.
- Americas: All championships in the Americas (be it South America, Central America or North America) can be played here.
- U23: Only players aged 23 and under as of July 1, 2021 can be registered with a team.
- Global All Star: No restrictions, all players line up and can be mixed.
The most accessible division remains the Global All Star. This is where the number of rewards is most important, the points required are generally lower and you can mix with players from each division.
There may be other open sections: a weekly that will be available under very specific criteria. In March, for example, Sorare announced the introduction of a weekly where L5 (average over the last 5 matches) is less than 50 (even 45 and 40 for some GWs).
Composition of your team
As a reminder, you must line up 1 goalkeeper, 1 defender, 1 midfielder, 1 attacker and 1 extra, who can be a defender, midfielder or striker.
Forwards usually have to be decisive (thus to score, assist or get a penalty, in simple terms), while defenders and midfielders will score according to their general stats such as assists, duels, tackles, interceptions. Thus, defenders and midfielders tend to be more consistent than attackers.
In addition to this composition, the team that your players play against is important. Inevitably, when your players are playing against the last of the championship, scoring can be more important.
