Spotify is inundated with unsubscribe requests

The Spotify platform has been flooded with cancellation requests following a nasty rumor spearheaded by Joe Rogan and Neil Young.

Advertising today is very fast, in particular, thanks to social networks. When it’s good, it’s very interesting. On the other hand, when it’s bad publicity, it can be very difficult. The Spotify platform has been going through a very difficult period over the past few days , and is now literally drowning in requests to cancel subscriptions.

Spotify platform drowned in cancellation requests

Music streaming platform Spotify is home to the creations of many artists from all genres, including podcasters, but the company recently broke the news when musician Neil Young told the platform that he wants his music taken off the service because of Joe Rogan’s podcast, well known that caused great controversy, especially in connection with the vaccine against Covid-19.

Soon the artist Joni Mitchell did the same, as did James Blunt. And it was enough for Spotify subscribers to respond. They are extremely numerous to demand the cancellation of their subscription in protest. So much so that, according to some reports, the platform is overloaded with such requests. She had to even temporarily put her live customer service on hold as well as requests to unsubscribe.

According to Tristan Snell of MainStreet Law, “Spotify currently no longer allows users to unsubscribe. Their customer service system is completely overwhelmed. People who ask to cancel their subscription are told it’s not possible. No doubt Spotify will roll back later when the system is less busy.”

Some users claim that they were able to cancel their Spotify subscription, but others report that the site is too slow or just not responding to their requests. Please be aware that there is a difference between completely closing your account and canceling your Premium subscription. If you are unable to complete the first operation, you can always choose the second one, unless, of course, you want to let Spotify know that you are not happy.
