Square is offering Tap to Pay on iPhone to all US merchants. Transactions have never been easier. When in France?
Square has opened its Tap to Pay solution for iPhone to the public after an early access program in recent months. Effectively, this means that merchants in the United States can now use the company’s Point of Sale app to receive payments from their customers using just their iPhone, wherever they are.

The only condition is that the seller must have a compatible iPhone. The oldest model that allows this is the iPhone 11, but there is no need to buy any additional accessories to take advantage of it.
As with any POS system, merchants simply need to initiate a sale in the Square app, after which the customer can pay contactlessly using a credit or debit card, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets. Square hopes this solution can give small merchants an easy way to run their business on their own. In its announcement, the company takes the opportunity to highlight an important potential security point by stating that the Cupertino-based company does not store card numbers on either the merchant’s device or its servers.
Transactions have never been easier
Square originally announced that it would support Apple’s Tap to Pay feature on the iPhone, a feature that Apple was testing at its visitor center in May and June. Around the same time, it opened up its early access program to allow select sellers and resellers to use the feature. Then one of the participants stated that this allowed for better management of the smallest customers who preferred to pay with their digital wallet and contactless card.
When in France?
This opening should now be open to more countries, including France. Either way, there’s no doubt that Tap to Pay on iPhone has many good years ahead of it. To be continued!
