Star Trek: Discovery marks the first time for the franchise that a black woman takes on the lead role and features characters from the LGBTQIA+ community. It also offers a more “soap opera”so to speak, where each episode has its own little story in the overall chain of the season, unlike other franchise achievements. This aspect, however, became the subject of criticism until the showrunners sorted it out and fully embarked on the main story with a really central element in Season 4.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series currently holds the record for the longest-running drama series on Paramount+. Its debut in 2017 set a subscription record for the streaming service then known as CBS All Access, a success that paved the way for other Star Trek series including Lower Decks and The Prodigy.
and it’s out early next year on Paramount+.
