Strava announces the integration of Spotify control into its app. The fitness tracker platform will also support the Spotify Workout playlist soon.
Strava has announced a partnership with Spotify to integrate the platform’s content controls directly into its app. So far, Strava users have had to switch apps and go straight to Spotify to do so, which isn’t that inconvenient but is obviously time consuming.
Strava announces the integration of Spotify controls into its app
Once a Strava user confirms they want to stream Spotify on the app, a small widget will appear in the bottom left corner of the recording screen. Clicking on it above the map brings up a popup with buttons to pause or skip to the next track, whether you’re listening to music or a podcast, for example.
Strava claims to have at least 100 million users worldwide, but with 500 million Spotify users – and a plethora of competing trackers in the market – this integration is a clear sign that Strava is determined to maintain and even expand its user base. Mateo Ortega, Strava’s VP of Partnerships, explains it perfectly: “This new feature further solidifies Strava’s position at the center of online sports and continues to showcase the power of the global community of active people on Strava.”
The fitness tracker platform will also support the Spotify Workout playlist soon.
Strava will also support the creation of the Spotify “Workout”playlist from April 20th. So you’ll have to wait a few more days to get your ears to listen to “Strava sounds”during sessions.
Also, if the two apps do offer paid offerings, you can try Spotify on Strava with the free versions of the two services.
