Studio Display adds Siri voice activation to older Macs thanks to its built-in A13 Bionic chip.
One of the main features introduced by Apple in some of its “recent”Macs is the ability to activate Siri with a passphrase, as you probably already do with your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. And it probably required certain hardware components because older machines couldn’t use this feature.
Studio Display adds Siri voice activation to older Macs
Today there is good news about this. Indeed, if you were planning on investing in the very latest Studio Display, know that this screen will offer older Macs – i.e. Macs that are several years old – the ability to activate Siri with the phrase “Say Siri”.
To be more specific, only MacBook Pros released in 2018 or later can currently take advantage of the “Hey Siri”feature without the need for Studio Display, but if, for example, a 2016 or 2017 MacBook Pro needed to be connected to a computer. Studio Display, this one can benefit from it too. This possibility is certainly due to the fact that the Studio Display has an A13 Bionic chip.
thanks to built-in A13 Bionic chip
This is the same chip found in the 2019 iPhone 11. And if some may rightly wonder about the relevance of integrating such a powerful chip into a “simple”screen, then here we have one of the explanations. The A13 chip will also be used to activate certain features, such as the built-in webcam or center stage, which must follow the user’s face to ensure that it always stays in the center of said webcam’s field of view.
And who knows, maybe we have only a small idea of the capabilities of such a chip in a monitor. Apple may have other similar surprises in store for us. To be continued!
