Summer Game Fest, produced and hosted by Geoff Keighley, is scheduled to take place on June 9th. In addition to the Summer Game Fest announcement, Kaley also confirmed that The Game Awards 2022 will take place in December.
Geoff Keighley has been producing and hosting Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards for several years now and has successfully turned them into two of the biggest events on the gaming calendar.
Keighley also announced that Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards will partner with IMAX to host events in IMAX theaters for “full blown immersion”. He goes on to add that they are aiming to create a “next-generation global event – decentralized physical events for the community in IMAX, big demos from us + partners, content for games at home and more!”
Summer Game Fest will take place on June 9
With E3 officially canceled this year, you might expect the summer season to bring a lot less to the gaming community, but that’s not too far from the truth. Microsoft has confirmed the Xbox Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12th, and now Kaylie has confirmed the Summer Game Fest will be held around the same time.
It goes without saying that other platform holders such as Sony and Nintendo may try to showcase some of their upcoming games around this period, but neither SIE nor Nintendo have confirmed anything.
With many major blockbuster releases scheduled for 2022 and beyond, publishers and developers may want to bring their game to an audience around this time. Games like Starfield, God of War Ragnarok, and Gotham Knights could use another trailer ahead of their final release.
2022 has been a pretty good year for gaming, with games like Elden Ring, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Forza Horizon, and Horizon Forbidden West rocking the industry. There is still a lot to do in 2022 and the gaming community has a lot to look forward to.
