T-Mobile submits the numbers to its call fraud protection system. In 2021, 21 billion phone calls were blocked.
Every year, we tirelessly receive a lot of fraudulent phone calls. Whether it’s scam attempts or just unwanted calls, these phone calls are still very annoying because the numbers are mostly unknown, which means it’s very hard to know if they’re there. Is this a legitimate call or not. Today there are user protection systems. T-Mobile has implemented one and at least we can say that it is working hard.
T-Mobile reveals numbers for its anti-fraud system
The US carrier T-Mobile is one of the carriers working to block these unwanted calls, and according to its own data, during the whole of 2021, the carrier would block at least 21 billion calls, robotic or not, fraudulent or not, but unwanted in your network. This is thanks to a special protection service called Scam Shield.
21 billion phone calls blocked in 2021
According to John Freyer, president of T-Mobile’s Consumer Group, “The number of unsolicited calls will reach an all-time high in 2021, but with Scam Shield we can identify and block an average of 1.8 billion of these calls every month – that’s 700 calls for every. the second is for our T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers. We are the only carrier that protects each of our customers with free threat protection tools like Scam Shield, regardless of their subscription or device.”
While 21 billion calls is a truly impressive number, one cannot help but wonder how many more have gone unnoticed. After all, no system is perfect, but the effort is commendable anyway. Jon Freyer added: “We know the scammers won’t stop until they succeed in demanding victims, so we’re doing our best to make it as hard as possible for them. Scam Shield leverages the power of T-Mobile’s network to protect customers in real time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
