iOS developer opa334 on Tuesday released another update to the TrollStore app’s permanent signature tool, this time updating the utility to version 1.2.2 .
The update comes just a day after TrollStore v1.2.1 introduced a new security feature to prevent boot loops that could affect users signing apps with the same ID as system apps — those that were pre-installed by Apple at the factory.
In a tweet posted this afternoon, opa334 included a link to a GitHub page that mentioned the following change in this release:
– Improved the security checks added in the previous version so they only affect immutable system apps (any apps that aren’t stored inside /var/containers).
Yesterday’s update was important to install for all TrollStore users because it helped prevent users from logging into the bootloop. But today’s update is also recommended because it improves a security system designed primarily to prevent this problem.
TrollStore 1.2.2 is available to everyone on the project’s GitHub page and is compatible with devices running iOS and iPadOS 14.0-15.4.1 (and some builds of iOS 15.5 beta). iOS 14 devices must be jailbroken, but no jailbreak is required when used with iOS 15.
