Twitter is testing mention limiting feature

Twitter is testing a limit mentions feature. To provide some peace of mind on the platform.

Although the functionality of the Twitter platform is quite limited, the fact remains that the latter is developing very regularly. The changes are often small, but they help offer their users an even more interesting, smoother, and more complete experience. It goes through different aspects, of course. Managing interactions between accounts is one of them.

Twitter is testing mention limiting feature

One of the coolest things about Twitter is that you can contact any public user just by mentioning (@personname). One of the worst things about Twitter is that it’s too easy to abuse. It turns out that the platform is aware of this fact. Indeed, the network will work to control these mentions. According to researcher and engineer Jane Manchun Wong, the company is currently testing a feature that allows you to completely block mentions or limit them to only users who already follow you.

Enough to provide some peace of mind on the platform

Twitter’s chief privacy officer, Dominic Camozzi, previously confirmed that such a feature was in development at the company’s offices, but later removed the statement, according to The Verge. Giving users more control over their mentions goes well with the various privacy features Twitter has recently implemented, such as limiting replies and the ability to opt out of mentions in a conversation.

While it may seem that Twitter is less open, this control over mentions will allow the service to provide a better experience for all users, users who unfortunately are too often targeted by trolls and similar activities that can sometimes have disastrous consequences.
