Twitter is testing editable tweets, but you’ll need to pay to use this feature

Twitter confirmed that it recently began testing the ability to edit a tweet after it has been sent, and Twitter Blue followers will soon have access to the feature.

  • What is happening? Twitter is currently testing a tweet editing feature that will launch later in September for some Twitter Blue followers.
  • Why care? Because edited tweets will not be available to non-subscribers. The ability to edit tweets can be a strong incentive for power users to subscribe.
  • What to do? Write to Twitter and ask for the tweet editing feature to be made available to non-followers as well, or follow Twitter Blue to get the feature.

Tweet editing feature coming soon, requires Twitter Blue

The official Twitter account officially announced the testing of the “Edit Tweet”feature on September 1, 2022. “If you see an edited tweet, it’s because we’re testing an edit button,”the tweet reads. “It’s happening and you’ll be fine.”

The company has confirmed that the feature is currently undergoing internal testing and will be rolling out to select Twitter Blue subscribers later this month. Depending on user feedback, the company may extend this feature to additional users.

How do edited tweets work?

According to the Twitter blog, those with this feature can edit a tweet “multiple times”within 30 minutes of posting it.

Edited tweets are marked with an icon, a timestamp, and a label to indicate that the original tweet has been modified. Anyone can view the history of all edits for any edited tweet. Read: How to hide or remove a birthday from a Twitter profile

Twitter reported that the “Edit Tweet”feature has been the most requested feature for years. But, according to the company, only Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to use it.

How much does Twitter Blue cost? What does it include?
