Smart Amazon Dash Carts Coming to Whole Foods Stores

Amazon is launching next-generation smart Dash Carts and making them available at Whole Foods stores.

Amazon has announced a new version of its smart shopping cart. The new Dash Cart can carry more products and has new features. The American e-commerce giant explains that the latest generation can now carry at least four shopping bags, up from only two before, and has a dedicated space for delicate and/or large items. The latest version is also waterproof, so you can take it with you in the car on rainy days.

As before, the basket automatically weighs the products and keeps a real-time count of what you put into it. Amazon has improved the software displayed on the touch screen to display images of nearby products. The latter is also better able to find the cart inside the store and notify you of any promotional offers. Finally, the latest version offers a larger battery. So many nice improvements that should allow customers to get more out of this new Dash cart.

and makes them available at Whole Foods stores

And to support this new generation, Amazon is finally bringing its Dash Cart to Whole Foods stores starting in Westford, Massachusetts. “Several other”stores will be affected in the coming months. Until now, Dash Carts were only available in Amazon Fresh stores — about 20 in the US at the time.

Once Dash Carts are available in your Whole Foods store, you can activate them by scanning the QR code found in the Amazon or Whole Foods Market apps. When you have an item you want to buy, simply scan it with one of the cameras next to the basket handle. After making purchases, simply leave the store through a special “checkout”Dash Cart. Amazon will then automatically charge the credit card associated with your account and you will receive an email receipt.
