Attention has been focused on a new C rewrite developed by the palera1n team that provides performance and stability improvements over the traditional palera1n jailbreak, but that hasn’t stopped the team from continuing to support the deprecated version.
In an announcement posted on Twitter on Thursday evening, the Palera1n team announced that they have updated the outdated Palera1n jailbreak to version 1.4.2 with support for iOS and iPadOS 16.4, the first beta version of which was released for developer testing just this week.
Palera1n team lead developer Nebula mentioned on the Palera1n Discord channel on Thursday afternoon that iOS and iPadOS 16.4 broke Palara1n and that an update was imminent, so the v1.4.2 update is not surprising.
The changelog also mentions the following changes in addition to iOS and iPadOS 16.4 support:

It is important to clarify here that this update is not for Palara1n-C, but for the older traditional Palera1n jailbreak. Both support A9-A11 devices running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-16.x thanks to the checkm8 hardware bootloader exploit.
