The Apple Watch has been missing a blood sugar and blood pressure sensor for a very long time. So says Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
Rumors have been circulating for several years that Apple has been working on systems that would allow the Apple Watch to measure a user’s blood glucose levels in a non-invasive way. We’ve also heard more than once about the possibility of the Cupertino-based company introducing a blood pressure sensor. These possibilities, of course, are still possible, but it seems that they should not be expected for a long time.
Apple Watch no longer has a glucose and blood pressure sensor
At least that’s what Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says. In his latest Power On newsletter, our man says these are two features that should not be expected anytime soon. According to the reporter, it would not be surprising if blood sugar tracking did not occur until the second half of the decade, that is, not earlier than 2025.
This is what Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman thinks he knows
The same seems to be the case with blood pressure monitoring. According to Mark Gurman, this feature will appear only in 2-3 years, at best. That being said, other companies like Samsung have already introduced voltage tracking systems in their latest smartwatches. However, the downside today is that users have to calibrate the device very regularly with a proper blood pressure monitor. Perhaps the solution that the Cupertino company will eventually implement does not need it. It would be much easier to use on a daily basis and would be less restrictive for those who need to check their blood pressure frequently.
Either way, those who were hoping to see these two features in the Apple Watch Series 8 should be right. Most likely it won’t. However, the Series 8 should offer an entirely new design. As for what new features it will get, that’s a different story…
