According to Valve’s press release, those who have already reserved their device will have three days after receiving their receipt to complete their purchase. Otherwise, the console will go to the next person on the waiting list. In other words, if you don’t rush to make the full payment, you could lose your seat and therefore not be able to get your hands on your Steam deck for a while.

“Hello, it’s almost time! On February 25, we will send the first wave of booking emails to those who have booked. Customers will have three days (72 hours) from the receipt of said confirmation email to place their booking before their booking is assigned to the next person on the list. The first units will be shipped to customers starting February 28, and we expect subsequent order emails to be sent at one-week intervals.”
