Valve is testing a new version of its Steam mobile app. The beta version is not finalized yet, but it is very interesting and everyone can try it.
For over a decade, Valve has been offering access to Steam through its Android and iOS clients. However, the Steam mobile app has not received much attention from the company in recent years. Not only does it feel outdated, it’s also very frustrating to use. Many players have it for the Steam Guard identity verification system.

The good news is that Valve is working on a new version of their mobile app. In a blog post spotted by PC Gamer, the company invited “Steam nested users”to beta test its new Android and iOS client. “We redesigned and developed the application on a new basis and modernized the design,” explained Valve.
In addition to previously included features, the redesigned app adds smart notifications, multi-account support, and a new way to sign in to your Steam account. Instead of entering a username, password and going through Steam Guard verification, you can use a QR code to simplify the operation. This is perhaps the most useful feature that Valve has added.

And what can be seen from the first tests is that this new application is a very welcome improvement over the previous ones. Obviously, as with any beta, there are still a few hiccups, including slowdowns and numerous bugs, but this is a big step forward. “The sooner we get product feedback, the better,”Valve wrote. “This is especially important when the app can be used on so many different phones and devices.”
And everyone can try
At the moment, the release date for the general public has not been announced. However, access to this beta is open to anyone who wants to participate. You can find installation instructions on the Steam site, but note that the iOS beta is limited to 10,000 concurrent members due to Apple TestFlight restrictions.
